Leadership is said to be service unto others and should be faithfully done with fear and reverence for God.
This assertion was made by Rev. Professor Pandang Yamsat, the Chief Executive of the Center for Value and Attitudinal Reawakening (CVAR) at a two day workshop for church and traditional leaders in RCC Panyam.
In a welcome address, the Chairman of RCC Panyam, Rev. Istifanus Musa, expressed that the need for organizing the workshop cannot be overemphasized as both church leaders and the traditional leaders deal with the same people within the community and therefore the workshop was very important.
The workshop which has its theme as “The Value Driven Church and Community for Meaningful Development,” had various topical
issues such as the significance of values in a person’s life within the church and community, building trust as a value for effective service, emotional intelligence for effective leadership in the church and community which was handled by Engr. Lepan Tyoden, one of the resource persons during the workshop.

Rev. Yamsat noted that leadership is ordained by God in all facet of life, therefore whatever position one holds means they have the responsibility of caring for those under them and if not done well, God can take it from them and hand it over to whoever He deems fit.
He expressed displeasure that what is happening in the world is creeping into the church adding that godly values have lost their place in the heart of leaders, hence all should turned back to good.
While appreciating the District Head and the RCC leaders for responding to this call which meant that they are working together, he read Luke 4:16-21 and stressed that all leaders want to enjoy his work, be victorious and be acceptable in the church or community and on the side of God.
He added that such a leader must be faithful, upright in character and must be truthful in conduct among other attributes. He charged them to remain focused in the task God had given.
Lepan Tyoden spoke on building trust as a value for effective service and read John 14:15 and John 15:7.
He charged them to build their trust in God and as much as possible, gain the trust of their wards which will help them in their leadership work.
The workshop had a question and answer session as the participants revealed that the programme had really reawakened their attitude towards leadership as well as the need for team work.
Da. Engr. Aminu Derwam, the District Head of Panyam noted that the programme was timely as they all deal with the same people within the community and appreciated the organizers of the programme to help them improve on their roles as leaders in the community.
